  • 1 Imperial Sateen

    See Lambskin. A very heavy sateen fabric with a raised finish and used for many underclothing styles, especially in Canada, Australia, etc. Woven in 5-shaft sateen weave weft face, about 66 ends and 144 picks per inch, 18's T., 18's soft spun cotton weft.

  • 2 Beaverteen

    A heavy twill, all cotton, of about 2/18's warp, and 14's to 16's weft. Of the fustian variety, with an uncut pile, dyed tan or light-brown shades, has a short nap, and designed to stand hard wear as clothing. Usually woven two face to one back picks, and up to 300 picks per inch. The ends of warp vary up to 40 per inch. Besides the home trade for trouserings the cloth is shipped to most of the Colonies. Of the heavy fustian, the Imperial Sateen is the lightest weight, the Beaverteen the next, and the Moleskin is the heaviest.   • 3 Imperials

    A heavy cotton fabric of the fustian class, woven from yams and an 8-end sateen base, 2 up, 6 down. Generally dyed and raised on the face. The picks are usually 3 to 5 times the number of warp ends. A standard make is 54-in. 102 yards, 64 ends and 214 picks per inch, 2/20's T., 22's W., 102-lb., soft finish. Sometimes called Imperial Satin.
